The MR2 Super GT series is a new concept in club level racing. Using "Black Box" technology we aim to allow competitors a much greater degree of freedom in building their cars, while at the same time providing a method of capping and policing performance levels that should ensure the type of close racing enjoyed by tightly controlled one-make race series.
From its success in the 750MC MR2 Championship, Toyota's MR2 has proven itself to be a very capable mid-egined rear wheel drive chassis and is available at a price that belies its abilities. The series is open to all three versions of the MR2, including (and especially!) the supercharged and turbocharged Japanese imports. Toyota parts enjoy a great level of commonality throughout the entire range - including Lexus vehicles - and engine swaps from other cars such as the Camry V6, Celica T-Sport and Lexus RX350 are commonplace in the aftermarket. Provided it's sourced from a production Toyota (or Lexus) vehicle and transversely mounted, any engine can be used. Sensible upper limits on power mean that budgets should remain reasonable and longevity won't be compromised by pushing components to their limits.
Aerodynamic modifications such as wings, splitters, canards and diffusers are actively encouraged, and their effects are incorporated into the overall performance allowance of the car.
